ETS Parapro Assessment

Attention Paraprofessionals

Do you need to take the ETS Parapro Assessment? Here’s what, why, where, when and how.

What is the ETS ParaPro Assessment?

The ETS ParaPro Assessment is for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It measures skills and knowledge in reading, math and writing and the ability to apply those skills and knowledge to assist in classroom instruction. This 2½-hour test consists of 90 selected-response questions in reading, writing and math. Approximately two-thirds of the questions focus on basic skills and knowledge and the remaining one-third focus on applying those skills and knowledge in a classroom setting.  Michigan accepts a score of 460 or higher as passing.

More information about the test, including suggestions about how to prepare, can be found at the ETS Parapro website.

Why do I need to take the test?

The law requires paraprofessionals in Title I funded buildings and serving in an instructional capacity to:

  • Hold an associate of arts degree, or

  • Complete two years of college, or
