PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Culinary Arts program will provide experience in a wide variety of occupations available in the commercial foods and hospitality industry.  The MOCC houses a model restaurant (The Starting Place) that is operated by food service students.  The Starting Place is open to the public for breakfast (9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) and lunch (12:05 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.).  To check out the daily specials for this month click here.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Students taking this program will learn the fundamentals of food handling, food prep and service, sanitation and safety, maintenance of tools and equipment, preparation of salads, sandwiches, horsd'oeuvres, soups, entrees, vegetables and sauces along with the production of breads and other pastry items.

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES  Some career opportunities available in the food service industry are short order cook, chef, baker, waiter/waitress, dietician and caterer.
