PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Building Trades program is a vocational program in which students achieve many job skills related to the building trades industry.  Students are currently developing a new subdivision by completing a new site-built home every two years and are involved in every phase of construction from clearing the site to installing doorknobs.  Other activities include a community service project, participation in Mecosta County Home Builder's Association activities and career presentations.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS Some of the Building Trades program highlights include apprenticeship programs, MITES competition, co-op opportunities, on-site work opportunities, project developments, field trips, outdoor work opportunities and opportunities for scholarships.

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Career opportunities in the building trades industry include roofer, drywall installer, window/door installer, excavator, apprentice electrician, painter, crew foreman/leader, builder, brick/block mason, carpenter laborer, and trim carpenter.
