Session Objectives
At the end of the presentation, participants will increase their knowledge of:

3. The effect of poverty on children’s language development.
4. The role of the family in language development, especially the role of talk used by parents with their children.
5. The role of language development in emergent literacy.
6. General language facilitation strategies that can be used in the classroom or home setting.
7. Specific language facilitation strategies that may assist in facilitating children’s language development.
